There are good reasons for the way you have been doing things in your life.  In fact, at some point in your past, these strategies were likely an incredibly smart way to cope.   

Perhaps you were in an environment where it was risky to show emotion, or you got the message that there would be consequences for trying to depend on important people in your life.  (Your own answers will be as unique as you.)

Over your lifetime, you’ve built up a series of coping strategies that at one point served you well, but have now become obstacles to achieving your goals. 

There’s good news:  You’re not ‘messed up’ or ‘flawed.’  You learned how to survive.  But now you’re coping with things in ways you don’t have to anymore.  Perhaps no one ever helped you reflect on or question these strategies, or ask how they might be holding you back now.

Together, we will pinpoint where these strategies aren’t serving you anymore. This is important because what is concealed can’t be healed.  Once you see them, you’ll likely feel energized and motivated to collaborate with me to learn how to choose a different path.

Yes, sometimes you have to go slow to go fast. We go at your pace.

But the #1 reason people tell me they were not satisfied with their previous therapy experiences is that they weren’t getting anywhere.  That their sessions were no different than venting to a friend over lunch.

It isn’t magic. We work better to clearly articulate your goals, the internal problems blocking you from achieving them, and then we lay out a blueprint to getting there. Everything is done with your permission, without judgment, and with kindness.
